About the new Southern Michigan IGDA Chapter:
Michigan is well known for the auto industry, Motown, professional sporting teams (Red Wings, Lions, Tigers), and several great Universities. However, when you think of the creation of digital games, Michigan is not usually the first location that you think of. However, there is a growing game development industry in the state, including several game development studios and many independent developers and consultants. The Southern Michigan International Game Developers Association chapter was begun in September 2002 to help promote southern Michigan as a game development community, while fostering a network for the game developers and enthusiasts in the state.

The chapter will meet every other month is alternating locations in and
around southern Michigan (Lansing, Ann Arbor, Flint, and Detroit).
